Rendez-vous in les Jardins de Baracane

If, like us, you love gardens, then the Rendez-vous aux Jardins is an event for you and for us! 🙂

This weekend, on June 7th, 8th and 9th June from 2 to 6 pm, Les Jardins de Baracane open the doors of their house for visitors to come and discover our little corner of paradise, our haven of peace in the heart of the city of Avignon.

This will be an opportunity to meet Minette, our star, our animal in the Garden … but also feijoa, banana, phoenix, bamboo from Japan, maple, daphne, clematis, jasmine with the smell of it on top !

And then, let’s mention the exceptional presence of the Panama hats, Gil & Enrique, who will show us some of their beautiful hats, fully customizable, made by a cooperative of Ecuadorian women.

More than a brand, Gil & Enrique is love. Panamas 100% customizable, handmade in Ecuador, by a cooperative of women. It is also trendy and sophisticated accessories. An invitation to travel and relax in respect of the know-how and the social and environmental conditions of manufacture.

Gil & Enrique is above all a love story. He for his homeland Ecuador, and for the courageous and strong women who raised him. She for him, for his values, his culture but also for beautiful materials.

From this mixture of this love, was born “Gil & Enrique”. A mark of the heart, ethics and solidarity that is embodied in Panama: elegant hat created in Ecuador, which requires a very precise and high quality know-how.

In the 2000s, the dollarization of Ecuador forced many men to leave the country to survive and get money for their families. Many women are thus left alone to adapt. Some choose to join forces to defend their rights and fight to perpetuate the ancestral know-how of hand-woven Panama weaving.

“Gil & Enrique” works with a 100% female Ecuadorian association specialized in hand weaving of “paja toquilla” fibers. This partnership, based on dialogue, respect and redistribution, guarantees a decent life for women artisans and helps them to pass on their recognized know-how in 2012 Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The concept: unique pieces, entirely made by hand, fashion, beautiful materials, accessories and especially redistribution and love.

Panamas, 100% handmade with love by these women. They are fully customizable (shape, straw color, ribbon color, embroidery) for woman, man and child.

Accessories: baskets, bags and jewelery made in Spain by craftsmen with real know-how.
