When do les Jardins de Baracane open their doors ?
An opportunity to discover special gardens
We like to participate in this national meeting that brings together garden lovers and amateurs.
This is the fourth year that we have opened the doors of the Baracane Gardens. Modest but dense, our garden brings together a great variety of species. It is a haven of peace in the heart of the city of Avignon. There is no noise, even though the garden is located in the centre of the city, other than the song of the blackbirds or the tits, which are chirping more numerous than last spring.
We will be able to talk together about the present, past and future flowers. We will be able to share our tips for preserving water and not letting our plants wither while not wasting this precious resource in these times of drought.
You will be able to share with us your tips and tricks to grow certain species sheltered from a strong sun or to ask us for planting advice, as we have finally gained a little experience.
Garden music for the 2023 edition
“I was made to be a gardener,” Saint-Exupéry is said to have said.
And what about you? Do you often find yourself in contact with nature? Did you know that gardening is considered a physical, rejuvenating and even meditative activity? What do you hear when you work with your hands in the earth?
At the time of writing, we have not yet decided on the soundtrack to our garden visit. Will we remain authentic to the point of letting the wind slip through the foliage, the birds sing elegantly as they know how to do, will our favourite neighbour (without any irony) grace us with a chosen piece of Johnny… l’Envie, for example, or will we ask a Malian artist we once met in the streets of Avignon to come and hum tunes from his country and honour us with the timbre of his voice. It remains to be seen…
On the other hand, we may welcome a sculptor and some of her works may come to live with us, with you during your visit.
So, see you soon for the new edition of Rendez-vous aux Jardins.
The Jardins de Baracane welcome you on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 June from 2pm to 6pm without reservation and free of charge. We simply reserve the right to limit the number of people and to preserve the tranquillity of our guests by the pool.
We look forward to welcoming you. Ring the bell and we will come and open the door for you.
