Van Gogh, a genius in Provence

After “Le Semeur” (“The Sower”) at the Chapel of Célestins in Avignon, made of sunflowers, lavander and wheat, done by Vik Muniz, a brazilian artist, the art of Van Gogh comes back with another amazing format …
In the Carrières de Lumière (“career of lights”) @ Les Baux de Provence, you will see a wonderful show of paintings on the huge wall on the career as high as 15 meters high !

The show @ Les Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux de Provence starts the 1st of March. It will illustrate Van Gogh (1853_1890) works who made more than 2000 paintings in the last ten years of his life, all spread all over the world. On the 7000 square meters of the exhibition, this new sound and light traces the intense life of the artist who was fascinated by warm tints and colors of Provence.

The exhibition raises the interior world, at a time excessive, chaotic and poetic of Van Gogh through his most iconic paintings, from “La Nuit étoilée” (“the starry night”) in 1889, to “Les Tournesols” (“the sunflowers”) 1888, through its famous “Chambre à coucher” (“the sleeping bedroom”) made in Arles in 1889.

This exhibition located in the heart of a little village of the Alpilles (30km / 45 minutes by car) would be an opportunity to visit this lovely area. You will be able to visit the old prestigious village of Les Baux de Provence, have a lunch in one of the most famous restaurant in this area “Oustau de Baumanière”, play golf or simply enjoy the local market in Saint Rémy de Provence on the Wednesday, or in Eygalières on the Friday.

This part of Provence is an enchantment that Les Jardins de Baracane highly recommend. One of the best star trip from Avignon !
