Tigers and Vultures is a double exhibition by Yan Pei-Ming held in the Grand Chapel of the Palais des Papes and at the Collection Lambert<\/p>\n
In 1970 and 1973, it was Picasso who exhibited in the famous gothic palace. In 2010, it was Barcel\u00f3’s elephant that took over the Place du Palais and occupied the immaculate rooms of Yvon Lambert. Not to mention the five papesses of contemporary art, namely Louise Bourgeois, Camille Claudel, Kiki Smith, Janet Sterbak and Berlinde de Bruyckere, who also had the privilege of exhibiting in these stones. From the Villa Medici, to the Louvre, to the Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay, Yan Pei-Ming has magnified his pictorial power, looks at the world today with greater acuity and anchors his work in a contemporary time.<\/p>\n
For the Grand Chapel of the Palais des Papes, the artist has created three monumental works that experience all the drama of the complex history of the presence of the popes in Avignon in the Middle Ages and resonate with the world as we live it today.<\/p>\n
nearly 140 works from nearly 40 years of career are on display. The paintings depict personalities of our time. Ming’s paintings have the ability to embrace centuries of history in one fell swoop, to embark on unknown destinies alongside the figures who have shaped the world.<\/p>\n
